WELCOME TO LERI KINDER ART

Leri Kinder Art

Leri Kinder the watercolour paintings artist

Leri Kinder is an artist specialising in stunning still life watercolour paintings and greetings cards

Leri Kinder grew up in rural mid-Wales where she appreciated the landscape, often taking herself off to the hills and wooded areas to sketch or paint. She enjoyed capturing the stone farmhouses and buildings that dotted the rolling hills.

Leri Kinder went on to study art at college and taught in several primary schools and colleges in Powys, Staffordshire and Cheshire, where she now lives.

As she is so inspired by artistic works of different periods in history, she took a degree in Renaissance Art and enjoys trips to Italy to locate particular altarpieces or revisit favourite churches or galleries.

Leri Kinder has continued her love of the countryside by working on a series of paintings incorporating stone and rock, ranging from barns and walls to stepping stones across rivers, rushing water over rocks and pebbles on beaches. Although she now lives in Cheshire, Wales still has a huge part to play in discovering new locations.

Another series of paintings looks to the natural world of plants growing in hedgerows and woods e.g. hawthorn, cow parsley, holly, ivy, autumn leaves and various berries to be found there.

Texture plays a particularly important role in her work and she has commenced a series of watercolours of old doors with rusty door furniture or peeling paint, the older the better!

She belongs to the Altrincham Society of Artists and to a local art group called Dean Row Art Workshop (DRAW) and has exhibited with these groups on a number of occasions, winning awards from both.

She has also exhibited at The Royal Cambrian Academy of Art Open, The Shropshire Open, Macclesfield Open, Staffordshire Moorlands Open and Derbyshire Open where she achieved awards in the latter.

Leri participates in the Wilmslow Art Trail and finds this a wonderful opportunity to meet other artists.
